Happy New Year!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

In the spirit of New Year and all the partying we are planning tonight I think we should celebrate with three drunken Amy Winehouse moments.

The moral: Don’t drink too much, don’t do drugs – and don’t get your hopes up for a new album from Amy in 2009.

Ciara covers Beyoncé

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Remember that awful Beyoncé single “Diva”? Well now Ciara has made her own version. But who is the number one diva in this game?

Grammy Magnet: Jazmine Sullivan

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

She’s 21, her debut album is called “Fearless” – and now she is nominated for five Grammy Awards:

BEST NEW ARTIST
BEST R&B ALBUM – FEARLESS

BEST FEMALE R&B PERFORMANCE – “NEED U BAD”
BEST TRADITIONAL R&B PERFORMANCE – “IN LOVE WITH ANOTHER MAN”

Sounds like talent!

Power Ballad Alert

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I am going to warn you before it gets dangerous – Christina Milian is releasing a new single in January, and after listening to it for some time I have realized that “Us Against The World” is the power ballad the world needs right now. Complete with a minimalistic production, angelic and emotional vocals and simple lyrics.

My prediction: When the hot music video premieres next month this song will really get noticed and give Christina the comeback the really deserves. The song will become a massive worldwide hit and a karaoke classic in a couple of years…

Sunday Classic: The Time Is Now

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Aaaah, this song is just perfect. Moloko released their “Things To Make And Do” album in 2000, and I instantly fell in love with “The Time Is Now”. It is Molokos biggest hit and perfect for a lazy sunday. Enjoy.

Also check out Róisín Murphys solo stuff, especially the “Overpowered” album is great, and she is working on a new album right now. Yay!

That 2009 hype: Prince

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Man do I love Prince. The man has released 20 studio albums, 103 singles and has won six Grammy Awards. He has recently premiered four new songs that will be on his next album. It’s probably going to be released in the spring. The four new songs are “Colonized Mind”, “Crimson and Clover”, “Wall of Berlin” and “4ever”, and they are really easy to find. The sound is guitar based and laid back. Honestly it’s a bit boring, so I’m glad I have his “3121″ album.

That 2009 hype: Timbaland

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Do you have Timbalands 2007 “Shock Value” album? You better buy it, because this album marked a new beginning for Timbaland. The album spawned hits such as “Give it 2 Me”, “Apologize” and “The Way I Are”. Timbaland is a clever man, so he has been working on a follow-up ever since.
“Shock Value 2″ will finally be released in February and has some hot songs in store for us!
This time Akon, T-Pain, Missy Elliott, Jordin Sparks and Flo-Rida join him. But that’s just the tip of the musical iceberg Timbaland has in store for us!
First single will be “Meltdown” with vocals from Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake.
Then there’s a track with Usher and Keri Hilson called “That’s The Way”.
Madonna is also on there with “Across The Sky”, a leftover from her last album.
Timbaland worked on a song called “Dumb” with none other that the Jonas Brothers!
I really look forward to “Underground” with Rihanna and a classic dance sample off a Darude song. Wow, wow, wow!

The new album better be amazing!

All together now: WOW!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Miss Katy Perry just released a new high budget video for the single “Thinking Of You”. When I interviewed her in October, she told me she was planning every detail of this video. Her work paid off, because this Melina directed video is well balanced, portrays the emotions of the song and is just generally pretty.

Expect to see me with this haircut very soon…

The video is an epic lovestory. Sigh.

Really beautiful shots!

Okay Beyoncé, you’re forgiven

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Our girl B continues to release two singles at a time, and after the disaster that is the “Diva” track you can now prepare your ears and eyes for something much more pleasant. This is the video for the single “Halo”, written by Ryan “OneRepublic/Bleeding Love/Bigshot songwriter” Tedder, Beyoncé and Evan Bogart. The clip was directed by Philip Andelman, one of the Partizan-talents, check his videography.

HALO, HALO, HALO! HALOOOO….

What the..?

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

When I heard the track “Diva” off Beyoncés new album I thought “Fun novelty track, obvious tribute to Lil Waynes “A Milli” – would never work as a single”.
But now she is actually releasing it! Why Beyoncé, why? You have a couple of other cute tracks on the “Sasha Fierce” portion of the record, “Video Phone” would have been nice and “Sweet Dreams” is a pop gem.
And then Beyoncés chose Melina to direct the video, and you expect a decent piece of work, creative angles and cinematography. But all we got was B prancing around i crazy outfits, and the song became even more annoying. An utter dissapointment.

Only high point in this awful video must be this. What a nice way to keep cool, B.

But I don’t now how you can make it up to me now…

What I learned from the Lady Gaga interview

Monday, December 22nd, 2008
  • She is like really, really into art.
  • She used to be a go-go dancer, a way to make DJ’s play her songs.
  • She went from brunette to full-on blonde because she didn’t want to be compared to Amy Winehouse.
  • Lady Gaga has some amazing megahit popsongs up her sleeve, maybe they will be released in the future.
  • She is shooting two new videos in January! They are going to blow your mind.
  • She has written the Britney Spears song “Quicksand” which is an European iTunes bonus track. But Britney recorded another of Gaga’s songs, which will not be released just yet.

People were quite impressed when she performed last night, but I thought she should have played one of the songs, that showcase her great vocals. But besides that she was great! Lady Gaga is going to be huge.

Rihanna is keeping busy…

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Right now Riri is working on new material for her fourth studio album – and her boyfriend Chris Brown is writing songs for her.

In January Rih will release a remix album! This must be the newest trend after deluxe editions. The remix album will contain new versions of her “Good Girl Gone Bad” hits. Make that paper girl…

When Kanye West will release his third single “Paranoid” off his new album, it will be a special edition of the song feauturing Rihanna! Than sounds pretty amazing. Although I hoped he would release “Robocop”.
