L.O.V.E. T.H.I.S. T.R.A.C.K.

Aaaah, I love my windmachine...Mariah Carey is over an over the top kinda gal, but when she delivers a brilliant track like this, I can forgive her anything (Even the styling of the “Loverboy Remix” video). Spoil your ears with this delicious smooth track “H.A.T.E.U.”

Close your eyes. Light a scented candle. And press play…

Sugababes updated

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

This is just scary.Oh how sad it is, that Sugababes are practically a music industry joke now. I love the Sugababes material from 2002-2005, it was cute and fresh. Now we have no original members of the group, BUT a hot record deal that’s going to introduce Sugababes on the American market. The new single “About A Girl” has been edited, so the vocals of new member Jade Ewen have replaced the sexy husky voice of Keisha Buchanan.

The original “About A Girl”.

I know what version I like the most, but what do you say?

Mika gives us his best “Poker Face”

Monday, September 28th, 2009

P-p-p-poker face

Everyone wants to cover Lady Gaga’s excellent “Poker Face” - but finally someone does it successfully. Mika performed his version of the mega hit on BBC Radio, and it’s almost better than the original – almost. His quirky take on the song definitely works!

Also check out Mikas cheerful sounding new album “The Boy Who Knew Too Much”.

Best..artwork...ever!

Interesting. That’s how I would describe the new single from Amerie. “Heard ‘Em All” has this tribal feel to it, and is still easy to hum along to. I’m not in love with the song. But damn, I’m diggin the artwork for her album “In Love And War”.

I would cut out the boring intro. And why does Amerie always look so sweet, even when she tries to be real tough, rough and bad? Girl you need to call Rihanna ASAP and get some pointers…

“Imperfect” but good

Mariah looooves the wind machine
Mariah Carey is ready to release her twelfth(!) studio album with the incredibly irritating title “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel”. The woman might be wearing too skimpy outfits for our taste, but she still makes real good music. I’m a sucker for the urban side of Mariah that emerged in 2005 with “The Emancipation of Mimi”. And now we get even more… Best tracks so far:
“H.A.T.E.U.” – Wow, this is a stellar depressed love song.
“Ribbon” – Wow, this is so street.
“More Than Just Friends” – Wow, this is cute.

“Who’s gonna hunt Chris Brown tonight”

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Am I late with this one? This is so funny! The second biggest hit in the US right now is “Run This Town”, and here is the parody called “Hunt Chris Brown”. Gotta love it!

Jamie Cullum does “Please Don’t Stop The Music”

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Poor pianoRight now my ears are analyzing Jamie Cullums new album, which will be out in November. And imagine how surprised I was to hear him cover the smash hit “Please Don’t Stop The Music” by Rihanna. Check his live version below. The way he makes the lyrics his own, takes the song to a whole new level. Am…blown…away…

This is just like when he covered Pharrells “Frontin’”. Brills!

Video cliche vol. 1: The bathtub

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Welcome to a fresh new feature on the blog called “video cliche” - and I would love your input in the comments, if you remember more videos with the same old cliche.

This time we’ll take a look at a real emotional-video classic “head under water in a bathtub” – often used as a dramatic effect in music videos.

1. Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love

This video is quite pretty and emotional. So one of the characters in the video of course HAS to go head under water because her date hasn’t turned up on time. Oh, you're gonna mess up your hair girl!

2. Anjulie – The Rain

Anjulie wrote that this video is personal. So this bathtub scene is probably based on a true story.

Wearing your fave necklace in the tub? So not practical...

3. Medina – You and I

Medina decides to take one of those really dramatic baths, where she is head under water too. It’s a trend people!

Medina enjoying a lovely bath

So what do you think? Am I on to something and are there more “bathtub-scenes” I should include here?

Another Day, Another Drama

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

The Daily Mail has a juicy article about how the new lineup of the Sugababes shoot a video in Los Angeles just A DAY after Keisha was officially out! What a crazy business this is.

Go on, no original Sugababe members here...

My Aqua moment

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

When I was a teenage girl wearing braces and yellow clothes from top to toe, I had an Aqua poster in my ceiling. I loved the danish band, their crazy style and hits such as “Barbie Girl” and “Dr Jones”.

So it was quite special to do an interview with them ten years later. Aqua revealed that they’re gonna take a month off soon and write music while vacationing in the Bahamas! I was like “DAYUUUUM”. They were all cool. But I just wanna pull that wig off Lene!

I interviewed about 15 different acts for The Voice during The Voice ´09 concert, and I hope I can show you some of the fun interviews soon.

Spellbound? I don’t think so

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

The song “The Spell” from Alphabeat has been on heavy rotation on my iPod lately. The track is just perfect for waking up in the morning. Now the video arrived, and it’s not bad. It’s just, that it’s not good either.

Trouble in Sugadise

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

They all look a bit mad here...
OH NO! Have you heard the rumors? Sugababes seem to have lost a member for the…THIRD TIME, if my calculations are right! Keisha and Amelle had a big fight, and Amelle left the band! Expect a press release with words like “we will all remain friends and have sooo much respect for each other” any day now!

Read the article about it.

Let’s dance!

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Rrrrrw...This years BIG HIT in Denmark is ”Kun For Mig” by sultry songstress Medina. English label Parlophone has noticed Medinas’ success and released an English version of the song, now titled “You And I”. It’s about complicated love and has an irresistible beat, so crank it up and get ready to dance!

I’m excited to see how much international love Medina can get. I wish her luck.
