The Ellen von Unwerth effect

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Press pictures are almost a science. What should the artist communicate with a set of press pictures: Power? Sex? Talent? Well when it comes to the legendary photographer Ellen von Unwerth it’s all about being sensual and sassy. This talented photographer has shot pictures with some of the leading ladies from todays pop scene. I like her work quite a lot! So let’s have a look.
Bad girl
High contrast Britney photo. Maybe it’s not so impressive – but remember this is a photo from the “Blackout” era where Britney was cutting her hair of and losing her children. So not that bad, eh?

Space girl
Ellen’s photos are often filled with over the top props. It works so well with Christina Aguileras personality. Looks like a lot of fun!

Sexy girl
Wow, can you believe this is “girl next door” aka Leona Lewis? That’s the Ellen effect people!

Bad girl
Aaaand here’s the latest work from Ellen. It’s the amazing Rihanna press photos. They mark a whole new level of bad behavior from our favorite RihRih.

So the point is: If you’re a pop star and want to look like a SUPERSTAR call Ellen von Unwerth.

Would you like to spend 1,5 hours with Beyoncé?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Oh Bey, you're such a show off

A full concert with Beyoncé. 90 minutes of hits! This is the special Las Vegas show she put together. Pretty amazing.

Second part of the show….

Gotta love Mr World Premiere for uploading this.

So where is Robyn nowadays?

make that magic
Robyn is in the STUDIO, y’all! The last time she released an album (in 2005!!!), it became the soundtrack to my life for a year or so. I’m excited to hear new stuff from her.

Here’s one of my fave Robyn songs, “Bum Like You”. There’s the original version and the dancey version. This minimalistic piano version I found is the best of both worlds.

I like this song so much, that I tried to learn to play it on guitar…and failed. Guitars are tricky little bastards.

WIN WIN WIN Situation

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

It’s time for a Nadia Hearts Music competition again! I feel like spoiling my readers, and you could be the lucky one who get’s to rock out to Rihannas new album “Rated R”.

Come on, you could have come up with something bettet than "Rated R"

All you have to do?

Come up with a better title for Rihannas new album, because “Rated R” is so boring and uninspiring.

Write your suggestion in a comment, and I’ll draw a winner next week, and send the album right away. Now put your creative hat on!

A conversation at the record label

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

A: Maaaan, did you read that post on Nadia Hearts Music?
B: Yeah, I guess she didn’t like the story line in the Timbaland video. He was so sad, when he found out.
A: But we gotta do something! How can we make Nadia Hearts Music love this video?
B: Well, we could edit out the scenes with the cheesy vampire story.
A: Of course. But we have to do something extra special too. What does she like?
B: She likes pancakes.
A: No I mean artist wise, you fool!
B: Well it says here “Rihanna, Lady Gaga, LeToya, Ryan Leslie and Natasja”… But isn’t she like in love with Nelly Furtado?
A: Yeah, she is! Brilliant. I’ll call Nelly right away and make it happen. It doesn’t matter what Nelly Furtado sings, or if she has any relevance to this song – she HAS TO BE IN IT.

A second chance

Did you raid Rihanna jewellery drawer again?!
I was a little quick to judge Alicia Keys’ new single, because of the whole leather jacket dra-muh. Here’s the video for “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” in high quality and full length.

And surprise, surprise: There’s a scene where Alicia is standing with a piano. We get it! You’re a talented pianist. Now sing your new single, so I can decide whether I like it or not.

OK, seriously. I’m still not feeling it! What is wrong with me? I am a big Alicia Keys fan and I’m not feeling her new single. I’m calling the doctor…

In this edition of “WHAT the hellz”

Mhmm, tasty glove.

Can you BELIEVE Rihannas Billboard position? After giving a detailed interview about the Chris Brown smack down, releasing the juiciest press pictures ever AND promoting her ass off, Rihanna is ONLY NUMBER 19 on The Billboard Hot 100!

Seriously?
I don’t get it…
OK, maybe I do. Have you heard her performing “Russian Roulette” live? PAINFUL. The song is obviously not optimized for live performance.

The note at 01:16 – ouch!

When bad videos happen to good people

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Who is responsible for this AWFUL VIDEO?

The good stuff: Timbaland is back with a good beat, fun chorus and a charismatic French singer named SoShy. I like the effortless vibe of the song. The vampire theme is timed perfectly with the ongoing “New Moon”-craze.

The baaad stuff: This video is horrendous. It’s like a cheap attempt to make a new “Thriller”. The boring intro, the utterly boring middle part and the predictable outro ruins everything. I need an edited version without the story line STAT.

SADE

Sade

From Sade’s official website:

The highly anticipated new body of work from SADE Soldier Of Love, will be released WORLDWIDE on February 8, 2010.

Now enjoy one of Sades best songs – “No Ordinary Love” from 1992!
This is seriously my favourite song of all time. It’s timeless.

And the video… Breathtaking.

Planet AMAZING called – they want Lady Gaga back!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Looking goodRah RahFIYAH!

Lady Gaga is a true out of this world superstar. She just keeps raising the bar on how original, innovative, cuh-raa-zee, fresh and beautiful her performances can get. Last nights AMA show was no exception. Lady G showcased “Bad Romance” and “Speechless” from her new album “The Fame Monster”, which is OUT TODAY. Go on iTunes and get it. It’s epic.

Now enjoy… She is dancing, breaking bottles, wearing a scary hat and her voice STILL sounds like a studio recording. Rihanna take notes…

Yeah, yeah, yeah – I’m so HARD

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

We see that gun tattoo RiRi. It's fieeeeaaaarce.

Never mind “Russian Roulette” and “Wait Your Turn” – the real HIT SONG on the Rihanna album is “Hard”. It’s produced by the The Dream and Tricky Stewart, and you can tell, because the tracks is sizzlin from start to finish.

Here’s a fan made video with the song in good quality. Let’s take a listen…

00:07 - “Yeah, yeah, yeah” is a cute lil’ intro
00:30 – You can already hear Young Jeezy going “YIRH” with his raspy voice.
00:39 – Rihanna really sounds like a cartoon character
00:45 – But that’s what we love about her
01:07 – Here’s the chorus we are ALL going to sing along to the next three months
01:29 – Nice little exotic Barbados “Brrrrrrreeeah” detail
01:59 – Ok enough with the silly effects Mr Producer!
02:10 – Fan mail from 27 million – really?
02:52 – YOUNG JEEZY KILLS IT!
03:25 – “Cardiac arrest – cardiac a’wrist” – amazing
03:35 – Best part of the song

Thanks for all your recent comments guys and girls. I’m always interested in your opinion and fun feedback, so keep it up.

Tattoo your name across my heart

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

You can say what you want about Beyoncé. But the girl can SING. It’s just a pleasure to listen to this down tempo version of “Sweet Dreams”. from her recent intimate Las Vegas concert.

If you like this, you’ll be thrilled to hear that the whole concert will be out on DVD. I gotta get my hands on it.

Dancing bears always win me over

Friday, November 20th, 2009

You probably know I LOVE everything from Basement Jaxx, and this video and song proves why. “My Turn” feat. Lightspeed Champion is the fourth single from their latest album “Scars”.

Honestly the song is completely outshined by the video. The beautiful animation based video is made by Tomek Ducki, check out his work HERE. WOW.

I actually think they made this video for me, I mean – dancing bears!? Watch them get their groove on at 01:34. Loves.

Why are amazing music videos so rare and often made by alternative artists? We need more originality in mainstream music. I demand it!

Music to go perfectly with raindrops

Yes, give us that intense stare Fiona

Rainy weather is just perfect for Fiona Apple. I would love a new album from her, but until then let’s have a listen to “O’ Sailor”, one of her best songs. It’s so… Fiona.
